Do you live in upstate New York or the surrounding area, and own a MINI, are thinking about owning one, or just want to be around people who own them? Great. There is little formal membership in MPG. Simply begin attending the monthly meetings and you’ll soon blend right in.

but wait!

Meetings

That’ll be the first Tuesday of every month at the Albany Pump Station, beginning at 7:15 p.m., usually behind the bar in front of the massive fireplace (when it’s cold and Neal is feeling charitable, it’ll be on). Sometimes with a bigger crowd we’ll head upstairs. Arrive ready to swap MINI stories and consult with peers, discuss past events, and plan future shenanigans. We usually meet for drinks (first one is on the house) but feel free to dine before or after.

The MINI Performance Group is an off-shoot of Patroon BMW Club of America, so membership with Patroon really seals the deal. Membership is now a formal requirement to participate in their events, for mysterious insurance reasons. It also allows you to participate in Patroon track days, receive the national Roundel magazine and local Half Moon newsletter, and grants access to a variety of very legitimate discounts including auto insurance and cell phone plans.

Patroon meetings are the second Wednesday of the month at the German-American Club of Albany in Colonie, N.Y., at 32 Cherry Street. Start time is 6:30 p.m.
